Locating Windows Media Player library files | CineMate® 520 system

Windows 10
To locate and re-index Windows Media library database files on Windows 10:
- Click the Windows logo in the lower-left
- Begin typing Run, then click the Run program from the search results
- In the Run program text field, type %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player
- Click OK to go to the location of the WMP database files
- Select and delete all the Windows Media Library files
Tip: If extensions are showing, these files end in .wmdb
- Open Windows Media Player: It will automatically re-index your music library
Note: The time it takes to re-index will vary with the size of your music library.
Windows 7
To locate and re-index Windows Media library database files, follow these steps:
- Click on the Start icon
- Click the Run option, or enter run in the search field
- Type the following command into the Run window: %userprofile%\local settings\application data\microsoft\media player
- Click OK
- You have now reached the location of the WMP database files
- When you get to this folder if the extensions (types) are not shown for files then you will need to do the following:
- Hold the ALT button on keyboard while pressing and releasing the T button on the keyboard.
- Left click on Folder options.
- Click on the View tab
- Then uncheck the box next to "Hide extensions for known file types" And then click OK.
- With the folder typed open and file extensions now seen you will need to select all files ending with ".wmdb"
- You will need to delete these files.
- Run Windows Media Player and WMP will automatically re-index the library. Depending on how much music is stored it could be quick or it may take some time for Windows to finish indexing.
