Humming, buzzing or rattling noise heard from product | FreeStyle® Speaker System
If you hear an unexpected noise from your product:
Try the following:
Be sure the rattling noise is not something on or near the system.
A loose item on or near the system may be vibrating when certain frequencies or volume levels are played. Secure any loose items or move the system or items to another location if the system sound is causing nearby items to rattle.
Be sure the Acoustimass module is not dual voltage.
A dual-voltage module has a voltage selection switch next to the AC input jack. This switch may be set to 230V. If so, unplug the Acoustimass module power cord from the power outlet, switch the voltage selector setting to 115V and reconnect the power cord.
Be sure the system is set up properly and all connections are secure.
A connection may have come loose or may be connected incorrectly. For more info, see Setting up your product.
Disconnect the coaxial cable that comes from your wall to a device, then check if the issue stops.
Find the coaxial cable that is coming into your house, then isconnect it from the first device to which it connects. This is typically the twist-on connection to your cable or satellite box. If the noise stops when disconnected, purchasing a coaxial ground loop isolator should help. The coaxial cable will plug into the isolator, then the isolator will connect to the device.
Install replacement RCA cables that eliminate ground hum.
Disconnect the RCA cables between the external device and the Bose system. The hum or interference should disappear. If it does, an RCA ground loop isolator can be used to eliminate the hum. Connect the RCA ground loop isolator, replacing the original RCA cables.
Try connecting a different audio device.
If available, connect another audio device using the same cables and connections to determine if the issue is related to the first device or its settings.
Check the condition of the speaker wires and be sure they are secure at both ends.
Check the speaker wires for any kinks, scratches, cuts or damage. Replace any damaged wires and check that they are securely connected at both ends.
Reset your product.
Much like rebooting a smartphone, your product might need to be reset on occasion to correct minor issues. For more information, see Resetting your product.
