Grouped speakers play sound out-of-sync | Bose Home Speaker 300

Are you grouping a Bluetooth® product?

Yes

If using SimpleSync to group a Bose Bluetooth speaker or headset, be sure that product is up-to-date.

When running the latest firmware, certain Bose products are optimized for synchronized playback with SimpleSync. For more info, see Products optimized for SimpleSync. Check for and install any available updates for the Bose Bluetooth speaker or headset that you are trying to connect via SimpleSync. For information on updating a product, refer to the support page of the speaker (or headset) then locate the 'Updating' article in the Software sub-category.

Turn off and back on the speaker being added to the group.

Turning the speaker off will end the group. Once the speaker is back on, create the group again in the Bose Music app.

If using SimpleSync to group a Bose app-compatible speaker with a Bluetooth® product, don't group more than the one Bluetooth product.

SimpleSync supports one connection between your Bose speaker and a Bluetooth speaker or headset. However, since Bluetooth products typically automatically reconnect to the last connected device when powered on, it's possible to connect more than one Bluetooth product when using SimpleSync. If multiple Bluetooth products are connected, disconnect them until only one is connected.

If using SimpleSync to group a Bose app-compatible speaker with a Bluetooth® product, use a Bose speaker that supports synchronized playback.

SimpleSync lets you connect a Bluetooth speaker or headset to your Bose speaker. Since there is typically a slight delay with Bluetooth audio, sound might not play in sync with all Bluetooth products connected to your speaker. However, many Bose Bluetooth products are optimized for synchronized playback with SimpleSync. For more info, see Products optimized for SimpleSync.

Reset your product.

Much like rebooting a smartphone, your product might need to be reset on occasion to correct minor issues. For more information, see Resetting your product.

No

If the issue is with a group of speakers connected using Chromecast, the Group Delay Correction may need adjusting.

If playing the same source on all systems compatible with the Bose app, be sure to use the Add All option in the Group menu of a speaker.

Add All lets all speakers on your account play the same sound in sync. When not using this option—by selecting the same audio stream with each speaker—each speaker would play an independent instance of that stream, which may not play in sync.

If grouping multiple Bose systems, check if a Wi-Fi network extender or repeater is in use.

Bose systems that you want to play in sync as a group might play out of sync if some systems in the group are connected to a wireless range extender and others are connected to your router. Since the extender receives and then re-broadcasts signal from the router, systems connected to the extender could receive signal later than those receiving signal directly from the router. To avoid this for systems beyond the range of the router, connect them directly to the router with an Ethernet cable (if possible). Otherwise, try repositioning the systems or router so they all connect either to the router or to the extender.

If playing from a group of AirPlay speakers, check if there is a mix or AirPlay 1 and AirPlay 2 speakers in the group.

If you have some speakers that support AirPlay 1 and some that support AirPlay 2, you can play them together as an AirPlay group by streaming via AirPlay 1 rather than AirPlay 2. When playing older and newer system together this way, audio among the systems might be out of sync. For multi-room sound that plays in-sync, group only AirPlay 2-compatible products.

Reboot your router.

Routers may need to be reset from time to time—much like rebooting a computer. Disconnect power from the router for 30 seconds, then wait for it to start up and connect. (Note: Any device connected to the Internet will be interrupted during the reset.)
