Pairing the remote control to your system | Bose Soundbar 500

The original remote provided with this system does not require pairing to the soundbar.

Determine if the original remote:-

or the optional universal remote:-

is being used. The steps below only speak to pairing the universal remote. The original (non-Universal) remote will work with the system without needing to be paired.

Be sure the soundbar is connected to same network as the device running the Bose app.

The soundbar must be on the same network so it can receive commands from the app to configure the remote. If the soundbar cannot connect to the Wi-Fi network, use an Ethernet cable to connect the soundbar to the router (or access point) so it can be found by the device running the Bose app.

Are you using an iOS or Android device?

A device running the app is not available

To pair the remote control with the soundbar without using the Bose app:

  1. Unplug your router to disconnect the soundbar from the Internet

  3. On the soundbar, press and hold the Action â—‹ button for five seconds. The light bar will glow continuously while the button is being pressed
When the soundbar is disconnected from the Internet, the Action button will not attempt to access a voice assistant
