Poor sound quality from product | L1® Compact portable line array
If you're using a Bose ToneMatch mixer with your system:
Try the following:
Make sure you select the correct ToneMatch preset.
An incorrect preset can affect sound quality. If there is no exact preset for the microphone or instrument, try something similar or set the control to Flat. For more info, go here and click the link under ToneMatch mixer presets and scenes.
Be sure no unwanted processessing is applied.
Disable any unwanted reverb, delay, compression, gating, EQ Effects (zEQ and Parametric EQ) or other effects. Then, listen for changes in sound quality.
Try connecting the audio source directly to the power stand.
Unplug the audio source from your ToneMatch mixer and connect it to your power stand using the same cable(s). If the issue is resolved, there could be an issue with the mixer or its settings.
Determine if the problem is specifically related to bass performance.
If there is too little bass, see Too little bass or too much treble from product.
If there is too much bass, see Too much bass or too little treble from product.
Be sure the levels are set properly.
If levels are not set properly, performance will suffer. Follow these guidelines when setting levels:
- Check the signal LED to be sure the input trim level is sufficiently set. The LED should be solid green, indicating a strong signal
- If the LED is not solid green, increase the channel volume level, stopping before the LED is red
Be sure a microphone is the only source using Channel 1.
The Channel 1 input has an automatic ToneMatch EQ curve designed for a hand-held microphone. Other sources may be negatively affected.
Reset your system
A reset is used to correct occasional product issues. It is not something that a product should require repeatedly. For more info, see Resetting your product.
Reset your product.
Much like rebooting a smartphone, your product might need to be reset on occasion to correct minor issues. For more information, see Resetting your product.
Plug in a different audio source.
Connected a different audio source to determine if the issue is related to the source: If audio is being sent to your system from a a microphone, try a different microphone; if an instrument is connected, try a different instrument.
Replace the input cables.
Try different input cables using the same source and same channel. If this solves the problem, the original cables may be defective.
Check if the issue occurs with the line array speaker disconnected.
If the issue is not noticeable with the Array disconnected, your product may need service. Follow the link below for more information on how to service your product. Depending on your product and region, you will be provided a contact number or the ability to setup service online.
