Remote control does not work from a distance | Lifestyle® 800 system
Check that the remote is not too far from the system console.
To control your system, the remote control communicates with your system console from a range of up to 65' (20 m). This range can be reduced if obstructions (i.e. walls and doors) are between the remote and console.
Remove and reseat the audio input cable at both ends.
The remote control antenna is located in the audio input cable. If it is not connected properly, remote control range can be diminished. For instructions on connecting the audio input cable, see Setting up your product.
Straighten the cable that connects your system console and bass module.
Your system uses the audio input cable, which connects the system console and bass module, as the remote control antenna. For the best reception, extend the cable as much as possible. If it is wrapped or bunched up, it can reduce the range of your remote control.
Check the condition of the cable that connects your system to the bass module / speakers.
Disconnect the cable that connects your system to the bass module (or to the speakers for Lifestyle 901 systems). Be sure the connectors at both ends of the cable are not damaged and that the cable is not bent or broken. If there is damage to the cable, replace it.
Try new batteries in the remote.
In case the battery or batteries in your remote are low or have no power, replace them. Alkaline batteries are recommended over rechargeable batteries, which might output lower voltage. (Note: Battery testers are not always reliable since they might detect power but not indicate if there is adequate power for the remote.)
Reset your product.
Much like rebooting a smartphone, your product might need to be reset on occasion to correct minor issues. For more information, see Resetting your product.
Check for sources of interference.
Your system uses the audio input cable, which connects the system console and bass module, as the remote control antenna. Since electronics can pick up interference from other electronics connected to the same power circuit or connected within close proximity, try disconnecting the power cord from any such nearby electronics (i.e. laptop/phone charger, TV, cable box, seasonal lights, microwave/appliance, Bluetooth devices, etc.). If the issue is resolved, try connecting the device or your product to a different power circuit or farther away.
