Closed captions must be turned on in the cable or satellite box menu.
The Bose system only passes closed captions to the TV via composite and S-video connections. Closed captions are embedded in these video signals, and passed to the TV. The TV decodes them and overlays the text onto the screen
An HDMI or component video connection from the Bose system to the TV will not pass closed captions from the sources connected to the system. If you're using either of these connections, you must turn on closed captions in the cable or satellite box settings menu. This decodes the closed captions so they can be passed on to the TV.
