Audio does not match the source with VS-2 video enhancer | Lifestyle® 35 Series IV DVD home entertainment system

Determine if TV Control is set correctly.

When a VS-2 video enhancer is connected to the Lifestyle system TV Control will tell the remote which tuner to control and what audio input it should use when the system is on TV as the source. For instance if the TV Control is set to AUX, and the TV source button on the remote is pressed, the remote will only change channels on the AUX device and will play audio from the AUX audio inputs. The media center will read TV (AUX) as a reminder that although you are on the TV input the audio is coming from the AUX connections. For information on how to set TV Control, see Setting TV Control.

Determine if Persistent Video is set.

Persistent Video will allow a video signal to pass through to the TV when an audio source is selected. For example, if Persistent video is set to Enabled video from the CBL-SAT connection will display on the TVG while audio from a CD is heard. For more information on how to set the Persistent Video option, see Setting Persistent Video.

Be sure the VS-2 video enhancer is connected properly to the system.

Make certain the connections between the VS-2 video enhancer, media center and TV are correct and secure. To easily determine if the VS-2 is connected to the media center properly, follow these steps:
  1. Turn the system off
  2. Lift the media center door and press and hold the Enter button. House Code should appear on the media center display
  3. While holding down the Enter button, press the Store button until "VIDEO:" appears on the display. Record the setting listed
  4. Continue holding down the enter button and press the volume up button to toggle through the available settings. If "Composite + S" is listed at all, the VS-2 serial data cable may not be connected to the media center properly
  5. Return the setting to the original video setting
For information on connecting the VS-2 video enhancer, see Setting up your product for the VS-2.

Check that the optical input is assigned correctly.

When connecting a device to your system via an optical cable, the optical input setting in the system menu needs to be assigned to a button on your remote (e.g. CBL/SAT or AUX).

Try turning off any external devices connected to the optical input.

If a device is connected via optical and is powered on, it may override or interfere with other audio sources. Turn it off and check if the audio returns to normal. If it does, the media center may require service.

See Start a Repair or Replacement at the bottom of the page to begin service.
