Do not add time between tracks when burning a CD.
Many CD burning programs allow for an option to add a pause between tracks. When burning a CD to load into a uMusic system, this extra time can cause the system to incorrectly identify the CD and load incorrect information. Each album has a "table of contents" encoded into it, which gives the total album time, track numbers, and track time. The system matches this information with the Gracenote database, and identifies the album information. If multiple albums have the same values in the table of contents, it may pick the wrong one.
uMusic+ looks at albums differently than uMusic.
uMusic treats mutli-disc sets as entirely separate albums, while uMusic+ treats them as a single album. If a multi-disc set was stored to uMusic out of order, then upgraded to uMusic+, it will list track numbers in the order the discs were stored
Burn a "mix" CD with .mp3 files, not as an audio disc.
If a mix or compilation CD is burned as an audio disc, all information tags (artist, album, track title, etc) are lost. Burning the CD as a data CD with .mp3 files will keep this information
The CD information may be in the uMusic information database more than once.
The database is made from lists of commercially released CDs. It assigns album information to a stored album by determining the number of tracks and the length of each track and matching it with information from the database. If more than one CD has the identical number of tracks and track length, it may assign this information incorrectly. If this is the case, the CD information will need to be manually input for the artist and track names to appear. To manually enter information for the CD, see Entering CD information manually.
