Determine how the VS-2 is connected to the TV
The VS-2 is connected to the TV via HDMI

HDMI uses a very strong encryption tool called HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) to ensure that content is not unlawfully copied. HDCP is a digital "handshake" that allows an HDMI video source to send a signal to a TV (or other display device). If the HDMI source device cannot confirm that the TV is HDCP compliant (via the HDCP handshake), it cannot send the HDMI signal.Although HDMI specifications require that a source initiate the HDCP handshake with HDMI repeaters, such as the VS-2 video enhancer, some do not. If the source device in question works when it is directly connected to the TV using an HDMI cable, it may fall into this category. This issue will most likely occur if you use any HDMI repeater, not just the VS-2 video enhancer.
In these cases, we recommended using a component video cable to connect the source device to the component inputs on the VS-2 video enhancer, and using an HDMI cable to pass the video from the VS-2 video enhancer to the TV. There is little difference in video quality between component and HDMI. The source will send a high-definition video signal (up to 1080i, depending on the device) to the VS-2 video enhancer, which in turn will convert the video to HDMI format. This ensures that the TV still gets the highest video resolution possible, and still enables the simplicity of one-button source switching.

The VS-2 is connected to the TV via Composite, S-Video or Component

For older CRT tube-type TVs, move the Acoustimass module farther away from the TV.
The Acoustimass module is not magnetically shielded. So, if it is too close to an older tube-type TV, its magnetic field can discolor or distort the picture. If the discoloration remains on the screen after the module has been moved, the TV may need to be degaussed (or demagnetized). Some TVs have a degauss button. See the TV owner's guide for more information on using this feature. Another solution is to use a device known as a degaussing coil. In some cases, the TV may require service.Be sure the VS-2 video enhancer is connected properly to the system.
Make certain the connections between the VS-2 video enhancer, media center and TV are correct and secure. To easily determine if the VS-2 is connected to the media center properly, follow these steps:- Turn the system off
- Lift the media center door and press and hold the Enter button. House Code should appear on the media center display
- While holding down the Enter button, press the Store button until "VIDEO:" appears on the display. Record the setting listed
- Continue holding down the enter button and press the volume up button to toggle through the available settings. If "Composite + S" is listed at all, the VS-2 serial data cable may not be connected to the media center properly
- Return the setting to the original video setting
