Sound is not heard from all speakers | Lifestyle® 8 Series II System
There are no balance controls on your Bose product.
Volume from the left and right speakers cannot be adjusted.
Try playing a song from artist, collection or music service.
Some media might be made for one speaker (i.e. old recordings or some news or voice recordings). Try a different track, like a newer pop song, and listen for a difference.
Check the selected speaker mode and speaker volume.
If you can't hear the center speaker, be sure the system is in either 3 or 5-speaker mode and that the center speaker volume is not set too low. If you can't hear the rear speakers, be sure the system is in 5-speaker mode and that the rear surround speaker volume is not set too low. For more info, see Changing speaker mode, Adjusting center channel volume level and/or Adjusting the volume level of the rear surround speakers.
Restore speakers to their factory default levels.
Individual speakers can be set too low causing them to turn off. Turn them back on by restoring the speakers to their factory default volume levels. For info on restoring factory defaults, see Resetting your product.
Insert the demo CD that was included with your system.
The demo CD has a speaker test sequence that plays a sound through each of your speakers. Check if all speakers can be heard when the test sequence is played. If they are all heard as expected, the issue is not with the speaker connections.
Check the condition of the speaker wires and be sure they are secure at both ends.
Check the speaker wires for any kinks, scratches, cuts or damage. Replace any damaged wires and check that they are securely connected at both ends.
Check the condition of the cable that connects your system to the bass module / speakers.
Disconnect the cable that connects your system to the bass module (or to the speakers for Lifestyle 901 systems). Be sure the connectors at both ends of the cable are not damaged and that the cable is not bent or broken. If there is damage to the cable, replace it.
Try switching the speaker:
Swap the speaker that isn’t working with one that is. If the issue follows the same speaker, it may need service. Scroll down and click "Start a repair or replacement" to explore your options.
Switch the speaker wires on the output of the Acoustimass module.
At the Acoustimass module connection panel, switch the connector of the speaker that may not be working properly with the one that is working properly. If the problem stays with the same speaker, the speaker wire is defective. Replace the speaker wire. Be sure the connectors are returned to their original jacks
Try another input on the Bose system.
The input may be defective; try another input (it is ok to use a different type of input, for example analog instead of digital or digital coax instead of digital optical). If the problem only occurs on one input, that input may be defective. Follow the link below for more information on how to service your product. Depending on your product and region, you will be provided a contact number or the ability to setup service online.
