Too little bass or too much treble from product | SoundTouch® SA-5 amplifier
If the sound lacks bass or has too much treble:
Try the following:
Relocate the connected speakers to increase bass.
Moving the connected speakers closer to a wall or corner, or placing the speakes on or near hard surfaces, increases bass response. The system's tone characteristics change depending on location and environment.
Be sure the positive and negative connections are matched between the amp and speakers.
A speaker cable is a pair wires that are typically marked + or –, striped, indented or colored to help follow both wires from one end of the cable to the other. Make sure the same marked wire connects from the positive terminal on the amp to the positive terminal on the speaker. Check the same for the negative terminals. If the positive and negative marking are mismatched, phasing issues can occur and result in poor sound.
Adjust bass and treble controls on the connected audio device.
Many devices have sound options, like bass and treble controls or compression. Check the device menu for sound processing options and disable them. If the issue is resolved, re-add only the necessary sound options. For adjustable options, try small adjustments.
Try connecting a different audio device.
If available, connect another audio device using the same cables and connections to determine if the issue is related to the first device or its settings.
Try a different app.
If the issue only occurs with a particular app, it is likely related to the app or app settings.
Replace the cables used to connect your product
Try replacing the cables that connect your product. If no issue is heard with new cables, the first set of cables is the issue.
Determine if the room size is too large or the distance from the system is too far.
The volume from the system will seem lower in larger rooms than in smaller rooms. The level of sound will decrease when heard from greater distances. Try to place your system within 20 feet (6 meters) of the listening area.
Be sure the product software version is 13 or greater.
Software version 13 brought a new EQ curve to the amplifier. Audio performance is improved overall, including better bass response and a dynamic equalizer for improved bass response at different volume levels.
Reset your product.
Much like rebooting a smartphone, your product might need to be reset on occasion to correct minor issues. For more information, see Resetting your product.
Use the SoundTouch app to adjust the tone of your system.
Your system has a Bass adjustment available via the SoundTouch app. This can also affect the system treble response: Turning down the bass level makes treble more prevalent; turning up the bass level makes treble less prevalent. For more info, see Adjusting the tone controls on your product.
