Crackling sound in one earcup | SoundComm™ B30 headset
Be sure the headset is being worn properly.
Due to the angle of the earcups, proper left and right earcup placement is essential for the headset to fit around both ears. The headset's performance can be greatly reduced if the earcup fitment around the ears is poor. For more information, see Wearing and adjusting your product.
Be sure the radio is within range of the base station.
The wireless radio that the headset plugs into has a 30 to 50 yard range from its base station. If the radio is out of range or encountering interference between it and the base station, the microphone or communication can become poor or intermittent. Try moving the radio closer to the base station.
Check to see if movement against the cable is causing the issue.
If the cable from the headset brushes against something (i.e. rubbing against clothing while walking), a scraping noise can travel through the cable, headset and microphone. This issue is amplified when multiple users experience the issue on the same intercom since the noise can travel through the microphones of connected the headsets and into the communication of other headsets.
- Use the provided clothing clips (or use additional clips) to prevent movement or material against the cable.
- Adjust the mic gain. If the gain is set too high, noise is more noticeable. Try turning down the mic gain so noise isn't picked up as easily
Determine if the issue occurs with ANR off.
If the problem continually occurs when ANR (Acoustic Noise Reduction) is off, then the issue could be the signal coming into the headset from the intercom. Inspect the integrity of the intercom connections and, if possible, try another headset.
Replace the batteries.
Remove the batteries from you product, then insert new batteries. Check that the + and – markings on the batteries match the markings in the battery compartment. (Note: Rechargeable batteries are not recommended. Use alkaline batteries when possible.)
