Locating Windows Media Player library files | SoundTouch® 300 soundbar

Which version of Windows operating system are you using?

Windows 10

To locate and re-index Windows Media library database files in Windows 10, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Windows logo in the lower-left corner
  2. Begin typing Run, then click the Run program from the search results.
  3. In the Run program text field, type %userprofile%\\AppData\\Local\\Microsoft\\Media Player


  • Click OK to go to the location of the Windows Media Player database files.
  • Select and delete all the Windows Media Library files. If file extensions are showing, these files end in .wmdb


  • Open Windows Media Player and it will automatically begin to indexing your music library. The time it takes to re-index will vary with the size of your music library.
Windows 11

To locate and re-index Windows Media library database files in Windows 11, follow these steps:

1. Click the Windows logo in the lower-left
2. Begin typing Run, then click the Run program from the search results
3. In the Run program text field, type %userprofile%\\AppData\\Local\\Microsoft\\Media Player

5. Select and delete all the Windows Media Library files
Tip: If extensions are showing, these files end in .wmdb. Right click the file and select properties to find the type of file.

6. Open Windows Media Player: It will automatically re-index your music library
Note: The time it takes to re-index will vary with the size of your music library.
