Updating the software or firmware of your product | SoundTouch® soundbar system
Select one of the update methods below:
Check for an update
To check for and install an available update for your soundbar
- On the remote control, press the SoundTouch
button
- Press and hold the CC button until the lights on the front of the soundbar blink white
- Wait for the soundbar to update and reboot, which could take up to 30 minutes
Note: If viewing the update progress in the SoundTouch app, the progress bar will reach 100% once the soundbar is updated and will remain at 100% while the bass module is updated.
Update using the SoundTouch app
Update your SoundTouch soundbar from the SoundTouch app:
The SoundTouch app alerts you when an update is available for a system. A update icon
or message will appear for the system(s) needing an update. If a bass module is connected to your system, available updates for it are installed as well.
To update a system using the SoundTouch app:
To update a system using the SoundTouch app:
- In the SoundTouch app, choose the menu icon ☰ in the upper-left corner.
- Choose Settings > Speaker Settings.
- Choose UPDATE SOFTWARE or UPDATE ALL f more than one system needs to updated.
If no updates are available, the UPDATE SOFTWARE button is not selectable. - Wait for the update to complete, which can take up to 20 minutes per system depending on update size and network speed. Once updated, the system will reboot.
Update using the wireless Setup mode
Update your system using the built-in setup network.
- Click here to download the update file for your SoundTouch 300 soundbar.
Do not rename the file. - Put the soundbar into Setup mode:
• Press the SoundTouchon the remote control, then press-and-hold the 9 button until all the lights on the soundbar flash.
• The Wi-Fi status indicator light on the soundbar will illuminate and glow amber while in Setup mode. - Connect to the Wi-Fi setup network of the soundbar. The network name typically starts with Bose (e.g. Bose SoundTouch) or the name of your gave the soundbar .
If you're device tells you there is no Internet connection with this network, connect anyway. - In a web browser, go to http://192.0.2.1:17008/update.html.
- Select Choose File, then select the update file you downloaded earlier to begin the update.
Updating using a computer and USB cable
To update your product:
- Click here to download the update file for your SoundTouch 300 soundbar.
Do not rename the file. - Connect a USB cable from the computer to your system.
Tip: If your system has two USB jacks, use the smaller jack on the system. - Once connected, open an Internet browser on the computer and go to http://203.0.113.1:17008/update.html to open the updater.
IMPORTANT: This address will not work until you connect your system to a computer with USB as described in the steps above. - Click Choose File and select the update file downloaded in step 1.
- Click Upload to start the update.
- Wait while the sytsem updates: A progress bar shows the download status then, once completete, your system reboots.
- Disconnect the USB cable and close the updater window.
If your computer does not reconnect to your Wi-Fi network after updating your product, restart the computer.
Update using a USB drive
To update your system using a USB drive:
Before you begin
For typical USB drives, a female USB A to male micro USB A adapter is needed to connect to your product.The adapter can be purchased from Bose (part number: 356138-0010) or from an electronics retailer.
Updating your soundbar
- On a computer, click here to download the update file for your SoundTouch soundbar.
- When prompted, save the Update.stu file. Do not rename the file.
If a download prompt does not appear, the file may have downloaded automatically. Look for file in a browser notification or in the Downloads folder. - Connect a blank USB drive to your computer and copy the update file to it, then disconnect the USB drive.
- On the back of your soundbar, insert the USB drive into the SETUP connector.
- Disconnect the power cord from the soundbar.
- On the remote control, press the SoundTouch button.
- Simultaneously press-and-hold the CC button on the remote while reconnecting the power cord to the soundbar.
- After about five seconds, when the lights on the front of the soundbar flash from one source to the next, release the CC button.
- Wait for the update to complete. The Wi-Fi indicator blinks white and the source lights change during the update, which typically takes less than 10 minutes.
- Once the lights stop blinking, remove the USB drive from the back of the soundbar.
