Unable to select or control Bose product as an AirPlay speaker | Bose Smart Soundbar 700
If the AirPlay device receives a phone call, wait until the call ends.
Some AirPlay devices can receive phone calls. When a call is active, AirPlay controls are not available on the device. Wait until the phone call ends, then try again.
On the source device, toggle Wi-Fi off and back on.
The device you are using to initiate audio might be having trouble communicating on the network. Turn its Wi-Fi setting off and then on again to reestablish a network connection.
Quit the music app or program then wait 10 seconds before retrying.
If using an iPhone or iPad, swipe up on the home screen and close the audio app. Wait 10 seconds before re-opening the app and trying again.
If using a Mac, close and reopen the program.
Be sure your product is connected to the network.
Try playing a preset or music service, or try controlling your speaker from the Bose app. If you cannot, the speaker is offline and needs to be reconnected to the network.
Be sure the AirPlay source is connected to the same network as the Bose system.
The AirPlay device and the Bose system must be on the same network to use AirPlay. For example, if the device is on the guest network and the system is on the main network, AirPlay will not work. Find the connected network name in the Wi-Fi settings of the AirPlay device, then determine if your Bose product is connected to the same network by Accessing the System Information Screen. If the two devices are on different networks, change the network of the AirPlay device to match that of the Bose system
If you have both AirPlay 1 and AirPlay 2 speakers, note the following when playing from an iOS device:
- You cannot stream to both AirPlay 1 and AirPlay 2 speakers simultaneously
- You can either stream to one AirPlay 1 compatible speaker or you can stream to one or more AirPlay 2 compatible speakers
Reboot the AirPlay source device.
Eletronics might need to be reset from time to time, much like rebooting a computer. Shut down the device, then turn it back on and try again.
Reset your product.
Much like rebooting a smartphone, your product might need to be reset on occasion to correct minor issues. For more information, see Resetting your product.
Reboot your router.
Routers may need to be reset from time to time—much like rebooting a computer. Disconnect power from the router for 30 seconds, then wait for it to start up and connect. (Note: Any device connected to the Internet will be interrupted during the reset.)
Check if the AirPlay detects your speaker while connected in setup mode.
Put your speaker in setup mode so it broadcasts its wireless setup network, then go to the Wi-Fi settings of you device and connect to the setup network of your speaker. (Tip: Typically "Bose" or your product name is part of the setup network name.) While connected, open the AirPlay menu and check if your speaker appears. If it does, the issue is related to the network connection or settings. (Note: The speaker should appear in the AirPlay menu but will not play while connected to the setup network.) For more info, see Putting a system into Setup mode.
Try making the recommended settings adjustments in the settings menu of the router.
For more information, see Recommended router settings for use with Bose Wi-Fi products.
