Unable to log in to router | SoundTouch® 120 system
Tips for resolving issues when trying to log into a router:
- Some router's require the manufacturer's setup program (i.e. Apple's "Airport Utility," Netgear's "Genie," Cisco's "Smart Wi-Fi," or another program that might contain the router's brand name or ISP. Some routers that require a setup app will allow you to log into the router and make changes but the changes will not take effect because settings are superseded by the setup application. In these case, use the setup program to change router settings
- Although logging into a router's settings menu differs by router, most menus are accessed by entering the IP address of the router (the network's default gateway) into an internet browser's address bar. For more info, see Determining the default gateway
- Check the bottom of the router or its owner's guide for the default login username and password. Addional info for some models is available in the "[routername]_Spec" document on the Router Information site
- Some routers have the password set to the serial number of the router, or the customer's phone number (this is often the case when the router is also a modem and serves as their telephone connection)
- If the default credentials do not let you log in, there may be a reset button on the router to restore it to its default setting (Note: This is erase all user-made settings and return the router to its out-of-box state). If you still can't log in, contact the person or ISP who set up the router
- Search for any posts relating to the router on the Router Discussion Board
