Common solutions
Reset your product.
Much like rebooting a smartphone, your product might need to be reset on occasion to correct minor issues. For more information, see Resetting your product.
Reboot your router.
Routers may need to be reset from time to time—much like rebooting a computer. Disconnect power from the router for 30 seconds, then wait for it to start up and connect. (Note: Any device connected to the Internet will be interrupted during the reset.)
Restore the system to its factory defaults and restart the set up process.
For more info, see Resetting your product.
Advanced solutions
Check these settings in the settings menu of your router.
Log into your router and try the settings below. Try one at a time to determine if a particular setting helps. It's also recommended to make note of the current setting in case you want to change back. (Note: Not all settings are available on all routers. Additionally, the setting names and their location in the router menu can vary by brand and model.)
- Set the security type to WPA-2 Only.
- Set the Wi-Fi mode to Mixed or B/G/N.
- Disabling WAN IP Blocking.
- Disabling MAC Filtering / Access Control, or add your Bose system MAC address to the list of allowed devices.
- Disable DHCP Leasing.
- DHCP Limit/Range.
- Enable UPnP.
- Try a different router channel, like 1, 6 or 11 since these channels do not interfere with one another.
- Try temporarily disabling the router firewall to determine if the issue is related to the firewall settings. IMPORTANT: Firewalls provide protection between a network and the Internet. Before trying this, consider whether or not it is safe to temporarily disable the firewall.
Install any updates for your router.
In the router settings menu, there is typically an option to check for updates. If updates are available, install them to ensure the router is running with the latest available enhancements.
If your Wi-Fi network uses an extender (like a Wi-Fi repeater, powerline adapter, or access point), try bypassing it.
Network extenders are used to extend the range of a network to cover a large area. Check if the issue is related to an extender by temporarily unplugging it. Since unplugging it might reduce the range of your network, move your system closer to the main router to test if the issue improves:
- If it does not improve, the issue is not related to the extender.
- If it does improve, try reconnecting the extender. Sometimes it can help to connect extenders after connecting to the main network.
- If it does improve but returns after reconnecting the extender, the issue could be related to the extender, its settings or placement.
Try connecting to another network.
If available, try connecting the system to another wireless network. This might require bringing the system to another location. Doing so will help determine if the cause of the issue is related to the network hardware (or its settings), or to the hardware of your Bose system. If the issue is not with your Bose system hardware, having the system serviced will not resolve the issue.
Here are some things to know:
- Your system must be within the wireless range of your wireless router or connected wireless extenders (if in use).
- Mobile hotspots are not recommended since they can have limited or inconsistent performance.
